For this new role that you think I am a perfect fit, my ask (in terms of compensation) is X. Period! Ask me how X derived is and not what my salary history is.
There is a business problem (that obviously has a value associated with it) that I solve and I demand a cut out of it. If you are looking for cheap hires then I am not the one.
I’m a brand with a value that I define. If you think my target is high, then we can say good things to each other and part ways, but I am not allowing you get me underpaid. If this company cannot meet my salary target, or thinks I am being disruptive in my approach, its clear that we are misfit for each other.
Side Note: The AHT of such recruitment calls have come down after taking this stand and I’m not complaining.
